Once a fishing village, transformed by the advent of the Furness Railway into a fashionable Victorian and Edwardian resort, Grange-over-Sands today is a relaxing oasis in the English Lakes, featuring shops, a long traffic-free promenade, ornamental gardens, golf courses, brass band concerts and vantage points for bird watching. Cartmel village with its medieval Priory and National Hunt racecourse, the Lakeland Miniature Village and Arnside Knott (N.T.) are among the myriad of attractions within a few miles of the town. There are a number of festivals on in the area including Holker Flower Festival the last weekend of June, the Steam Festival at Flookbugh the last weekend of July and Prom Arts the last Sunday of the month between April and Septemeber. Tea rooms, a selection of shops and a pub serving food are about 700 yards away, and golf is available nearby

Grange-Over-Sands is a seaside town in Cumbria, England, south of the Lake District. It is located within a few miles of Lindale, Cartmel, Allithwaite, Arnside, and Witherslack and is one of more than one hundred towns and villages in Cumbria in which Go2 has cottages or holidays lets available. The nearest cities are Lancaster (population 45,952), Carlisle (population 71,773), and Liverpool (which has a population of 469,017 according to the 2001 Census).
Originally a fishing village, when the railway arrived during the 1800s, Grange-Over-Sands was transformed into a popular tourist location, notes for its sandby beach overlooking Morecambe Bay. It represents a great place to stay if you're looking for a holiday which is both by the sea, and also near the Lake District and fells for walking.
